Les joined in 1943 and participated for a few seasons mainly in the middle distance events.
A student at Collingwood Technical School, Les went on to be a builder living in Watsonia before retiring to Queensland with his wife Helen.
Les became re-associated with Collingwood Harriers in the sixties when his two sons Alan and Bruce joined the Club.
It was terrific to see Les again in 2009 when he flew down for the Club Five Mile, where he spent a great day catching up with a stack of people. It was the first time he had been in the ‘new’ clubrooms.
It was on this day that Les gave us some amazing information. While doing some investigating into his family tree, he had discovered a connection to the Club’s first Olympian George Knott.
