Dennis Mealmaker was a gentle giant when he arrived at Collingwood at the age of fifteen.
Brought to the Club by his uncle, Kelvin Hill, Dennis was aiming to be a thrower in the family tradition, but drifted away from our sport when his size and agility attracted the interest of the basketball fraternity.
Little was seen of him again but many (over 40!) years later it was learnt that Dennis had, some years earlier, been killed in a workplace accident while working as an electrician.
